Holy Week Worship Schedule

By Debby Coughlan, in News

Holy Week is a special time for spiritual reflection at Joy Reigns. Maundy Thursday Worship will take place on April 13th at 7PM. At this worship we remember Jesus’ command for us to love one another. Come for music, hand washing and communion.

Good Friday Worship will be held on April 14th at 7PM. Come for music, scripture reading and contemplative candle lighting as we journey with Jesus to the cross.

Easter Sunday Worship will be celebrated at 8:30AM and 10:30AM. Come to this festive worship with communion to boldly proclaim, “Alleluia, He is Risen!”

Our Easter Egg Hunt will be held between worship services on Easter Sunday at approximately 9:30AM. Join in the fun and fellowship!

“A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.  The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Matthew 21:8-9

Is your coat closet full? On Palm Sunday, our congregation brought gently used coats and jackets to church for donation to our Joy Thrift ministry. You can still contribute to this important community outreach by dropping off coats or jackets of any size to Joy Thrift on Saturdays or Mondays between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Thank you for your generosity!

Joy Reigns Birthday Party – With a Twist!

By Debby Coughlan, in News

We’re celebrating the 12th anniversary of Joy Reigns Lutheran Church in a new way. We’ll have the traditional cake after worship on Sunday, February 28th, but we will also send “birthday cake” to the Food Pantry at All Hallows. Those who are food insecure do not have the luxuries that many of us experience, including a cake with frosting and candles and decorations to celebrate a birthday. Wetumblr_inline_n5qmxwF6Md1rpr8nr will have the opportunity to make birthday bags for food pantry clients as a way of celebrating our own congregation’s birthday. This service project birthday party is a joint effort of the Adult Ministry led by Sara Starry and the Service Ministry led by Angelika Fisher.

Now that school is in session, everyone needs to stock up on supplies such as notebooks and pencils, new shoes and sweaters, calculators and paint, ink for the home printer and so much more. On most Sundays, Scrip cards that support Joy Reigns are available to purchase from retailers such as: Target, Walmart, Office Depot, Staples and more. Or you might pick up some cards for grocery stores, including Giant, Safeway and Food Lion to make all those school lunches. You can also order cards for your favorite clothing stores and more. For more information, or to learn more about the mobile app that is also available, talk to Michelle Poole or Yvette Woods.
