Learn

We exist that all may know Jesus Christ and become his fully devoted followers. We challenge people to deepen their discipleship and broaden their own spiritual journeys. Joy Reigns offers faith-based learning and fellowship opportunities for all ages, including Sunday School, Youth Group, Bible Studies, and more.

Grace. Faith.

We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. For us as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), this faith comes through the good news of Jesus Christ and gives us the freedom and the courage to wonder, discover and boldly participate in what God is up to in the world. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person — questions, complexities and all.

As members of the ELCA, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. With our hands, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.

We believe that we are saved by the grace of God and our salvation is through faith alone. We experience God’s grace in the waters of Baptism and at the table when we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. We need only to believe that on the cross Jesus died for our sins and for his sake, God forgives us all our sins and offers us the gift of eternal life. The joy-filled life comes when we live as his disciples in the world.

We recognize the wider fellowship of churches and are eager to work alongside them in ecumenical ministries and projects.  For more information about what we believe as Lutherans, please visit the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America or the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the ELCA.

Share. Laugh. Engage.

Household Huddle Offers Sunday School for All Ages at 10:45

Our Sunday School program was inspired by the football huddle, where the team gathers as a group to talk about how they will work together for each play. People of all ages are invited to huddle up together immediately following worship (at 10:45) to learn, grow and prepare for the week ahead.  Sometimes we stay together in a large group. Sometimes we split into age groups. Sometimes we have stations with activities. Always we learn about God -- from each other and with each other. The nursery is available for preschool-age children; however they are welcome to attend the Household Huddle, too. Miiddle school and high school students often participate in activities on their own, although they join Household Huddle several times each month.  For those who are looking for consistent weekly adult learning opportunities, there are several small groups available throughout the week.

Sunday School at Joy Reigns is a fun opportunity to learn about God.  We sing, study, play, laugh, and grow together in our knowledge of the Bible. We have a comfortable atmosphere of inclusion where new and returning children, youth and adults are always welcomed with smiles and sincere greetings.

Small Groups & Bible Studies

Nearly everyone has friends on Facebook, yet many people are stilll lonely. Small groups are a way to get to know the love of Jesus with a community of friends.  We invite you to join one of the small groups available at Joy Reigns. They are designed to ignite and spark faith in each of us and help us grow our Joy Reigns family.  These groups will help you and others become followers of Jesus. They will be a place of authentic community where you can share your joys and sorrows. They will strengthen your family and relationships.

To register for a group, get directions to a location, or for more information, please email officejrc@gmail.com or call the church office at 410-266-5691.

Youth Group

We provide relevant, rewarding opportunities for youth to connect with each other and share joys, struggles, concerns and inspirations.  Contact us to learn more about Thrilling Thursdays, our summer program that includes a variety of adventures such as swimming, tubing and traveling to Hershey Park and Ocean City, Maryland.

First Communion

People of ages are welcome to commune at the Lord's Table whenever there is interest.  Our official classes begin with third graders who have fun learning about the Sacrament of Holy Communion, including making the bread for their first communion service.

Confirmation and Catechism

This is a specific time for 5th-8th graders to explore the concept of faith and claim it for their own.  This experience of insight and reflection will help them answer the question: "Why am I a Christian?"
