Reports to: Music Director

Works in coordination with: Music Director, Pastor, Operations Manager, volunteers, online worship moderator.

Hours: Midweek band rehearsal Wednesday 6pm - 8pm, and Sunday worship service 8am - 11am, occasional church events such as Christmas Eve services, Midweek Lent, others. 5-7 hours total per week.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Position Description:

The Worship Tech Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing all technical aspects of worship services and church events, ensuring that both in-person and online experiences are engaging, seamless, and spiritually uplifting. Focus is on sound, lighting, projection, and live streaming. This position is key to ensuring that technology enhances the worship experience and communicates the church’s core values to LOVE joyfully, CONNECT deeply and SERVE generously.

Responsibilities:

● Audio/Visual Production

  • Operate and maintain sound systems, lighting, video recording, and projection equipment during worship services and other church events with the assistance of a volunteer team.

  • Ensure high-quality audio and video streaming for online worship services, including occasional post-production when needed.

● Volunteer Coordination & Training

  • Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers to assist with AV needs for worship services and special events.

● Service Preparation and Implementation

  • Collaborate with the worship team, pastors, and musicians to plan and implement technical aspects of worship, paying particular attention to slide development and progression, camera angles, and sound quality to ensure a cohesive flow of the service or event.

  • Prepare and load multimedia content (e.g., song lyrics, videos, presentations) for worship services and events using ProPresenter.

  • Support online worship moderator as needed.

● Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all AV equipment, addressing any technical issues that arise during the worship service or events.

  • Propose and implement new technology solutions that enhance the worship experience as needed.

  • Innovate ways to make the service more accessible to those with differing needs (e.g., captioning, visual aids).

Qualifications:

● Reliable, punctual, meets deadlines

● Communicates effectively

● Proficiency in operating multimedia production tools, soundboards, lighting systems, and live-streaming software (e.g., OBS, ProPresenter, etc.)

● Knowledge of AV systems maintenance and troubleshooting

● Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, musicians, and volunteers

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

● Strong eye for creation of visual media

● Problem-solving mindset and calm under pressure, particularly during live events

● Open to learning and integrating technology with the church’s theological and liturgical framework

● Comfortable working in an environment that celebrates diversity, including LGBTQ+ inclusion, social justice advocacy, and interfaith collaboration

Preferred Experience:

● Follower of Jesus preferred, but not required

● Experience working in a church or nonprofit organization

● Previous experience in a worship tech or AV production role

● Familiarity with hybrid worship environments (both in-person and online)
